Looks good to me.
What would you guys pay for it? So im not payin too much for it...
Check for holes through the band for a metal wreath and chinstrap buttons. This hat would not have started life with flatwire insignia.
I agree Ben.
Anton: note the visor. On a true "crusher" (I hate this term) this would be fairly thin bendable leather with no rim near the edge. It has been made to look like a Feldmuzte alter Art. Of course the deal is, when was this done......the parts are original, but is it 1942 or 2002? These caps were very popular then as well as now and therein lies the problem. The cap design was replaced in 1938 but it was allowed a wear out period so it could be worn until 1942 when it was supposed to have ceased all use. German officers improvised other caps to make them look like the these caps which they could no longer buy. Collectors also mess around with caps to make them look like them too.
Despite when the insignia might have been applied, this is the cap to buy. The insignia alone is probably worth nearly as much as the hat itself which is authentic btw, no problem there.
Thanks for your opinions!
So 500-750€ isn't too much for a cap like this?
Actualy, that price range is way too much IMO.
I would suggest about 300 euro for an authentic, untouched issued Infantry NCO Schirmmutze in very good condition. The flatwire Alter Art Feldmutze insignia is probably worth about 150 euro.
