Heer M34 Feldmütze : Need help on this cap

I may have made an amateur mistake, but I bought this cap before getting a second opinion. I've had a few of these side caps before, so I figured I would go with my instincts on this one. I paid $50 for it, so it will not be too much of a loss if the buy backfires on me. I was thinking it was some kind of mountain infantry cap, judging from the color of the eagle. The current pictures I have are not very clear. Just let me know what your first impressions are until I can post new pictures up when it arrives in the mail. Sorry I don't have any photos of the interior.

Thanks for your help so far, unfortunately I don't have any more pictures. I will definitely post some high quality pics of the eagle, stitching, and the interior once the cap arrives in the mail.

The colour of the eagle has nothing to do with branch of service.

Bad signs so far: Lack of air vent grommets: overall cut: material: suspect eagle?

But lets see it all once you get it.

I fear you may be right. I was browsing around about an hour ago looking for similar examples on dealer's websites. I came across a reproduction that had the exact same coloring and configuration as this one. I'll post pictures of the repro version if I can find it.

I think for the above reasons it is not original. On the plus side you only paid what is is really worth !
