    Hi Marty,
    this wants to be an artillery cap - the badges are, however, more than unusual - they are machine embroidered and I'm not sure wheter they are authentic and this also goes for the cap itself.

    I’m no expert on these caps, but I have seen one in a museum (can’t think which one though). The emblems weren’t stitched on the one I saw. Is it just me or does the visor look a little funny? Missing the leather strap across the visor?

    Good Reuther--rare to find machine-embroidered cotton insignia.
    I assume the hat has holes for chincord buttons?

    I did a little more research into the stitched visor caps and the stitching pattern on yours doesn’t match the authenticated one in the attached picture.

    Is it one visor ? Officer cords on bottom pic. Removed ?

    It is one visor it was picked up with a Luftwaffe helmet.

    The most important thing about this visor for authentication is he does not collect visors so he will be selling it but he does not want to sell a fake so he wants to be sure that it’s real because he’s like the rest of us his reputation means a lot to him
