the development of the Russian peaked cap is an interesting one, too. The original quite "low-crowned" caps (which influenced almost all former East-Block-countries, particularly DDR) became quite voluminous caps in the 1980ies. Presently the Russian caps (and those of all of the countires affiliated to Russia) have an operetta-like shape - too big and too high peaked - almost a parody (how do these people get through narrow doors?), quite similar to the two caps in post # 1.
Looks very ridiculous. I like high crowns, but enough is enough. These hats are a parody, good for an operetta. What a waste of fabric! Where shall this lead to? Tents as headgear? How can they get into a car with these hats?
As a side note, I have a friend who was on a Canadian police force that was up for new uniforms.
Their visor hat supplier came back with sattleform visors (high-peak and all).
They were accepted for service, but recalled only a few months later for being too "Nazi-like".
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
