Kriegsmarine Overseas Cap

Machine sewn?
As far as I now know, all the French Kriegsmarine caps have hand-stitched eagle.

Searching the Internet, I found one more "wrinkled" eagle - same producer:

I don't believe the story about French manufacturers deliberately screwing up the insignia out of some kind of "show of resistance". Certainly, the German's would inspect their received products. If a grinning Frenchman handed over a shipment of military uniform caps with obviously screwed up insignia, he'd likely be in grave danger for his Life...
As for the original cap in question, if you Like it-Buy it and Enjoy it.

I have to agree with the insignia being re-applied.
The cockade should also be centered on the
band between the stitches, IMO.........

For your information, the cap I had was purchased in 1957 for the grand sum of $3.00. In fact, it was my first German schiffen. I thought it was interesting due to the Paris stamp. I had it for many years. Even back in those days, collectors were aware of the fact to avoid hand sewn cap insignia. At that time, there was so much material available, few individuals would try and restore a piece as it would be easy to find an untouched example.
