I am sorry, but it is a 1960s fake called an Alteste. You may want to review this thread:

Problem with these is they are very nicely made, probably even with original materials so that they fool many a collector (and would certainly have fooled me had I not discovered this forum). Good occasion for me to express my sincere thanks to all the moderators/specialists/participants who have taught me so much - and hopefully will go on doing so.

The visor that started this thread is in an obscure US auction house.
Be very careful of any hats being sold by these "mom n pop" auction houses.
A lot of old-timer collectors are dumping their junk in them in an attempt to stay off radar.

Great information! Yeah I love the New gold membership, opens up the doors to soo much more reference material and cool information. Thanks all for making this forum great! Stonemint, Thank you for the headgear advise, I am a younger collector and still have a hard time distinguishing between the "on the fence" caps as I will take your auction house advise to heart!

TheBryGuy,
Welcome to the Gold Club Member Area! Great to see a fine young collector here. Stonemint and so many have really done a great job of creating some great threads and knowledge. You are in a great place! Sorry this visor did not work out for you. Rossi
