It appears to be original and pretty well worn. It would be nice to see a closer and sharper view of the interior. The chin cord may have been replaced. NH

It is an Officers quality cap but with an NCO's metal wreath and cockade insignia.

It would take a bit of work to restore it to its original appearance. You would need to replace the cockade and eagle. Ade pointed out it is an officer model and this seems to be correct based on the silver cord around the top. So you would have to replace the missing pieces with correct officer quality items. At $454 this just might be worth it if you can find the correct replacements inexpensively. As it is, I would consider holding out for something in better and more complete condition.

Sorry about my late reply. The hat is a post-war Bundeswehr visor for the LW with added insignia. In other words, a fake. Hope you didn't buy it.

Glad to hear that. One of the easiest ways to tell BW LW visors from TR (by pics alone) is the mohair band. The "ribs" of the BW mohair are flatter and wider than the TR examples.
