Hi everyone. I've been talking to someone about purchasing this Luft visor. It's not in great shape but it looks authentic to my very untrained eye. I've never had one to know for sure. Any help is appreciated. Also, is that cardboard inside? Thank you!Luftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinionsLuftwaffe Visor - never had one and could use opinions

Looks like some kind of home-made stiffener or retainer.
Also seems to have had extensive repairs done to the
sweat band - including the visor as well. The price
    should reflect condition.........

    Steve.

Thanks, Steve. They are asking $250. Wonder is there's any way of knowing if the repairs were period done or more recent? Thanks. -Ethan

Well it seems like a non-expert type repair as the stitches
are quite long and do not follow the original holes well,
if at all. The band could also be a recent replacement.

$250 is pretty fair I'd say, but wait for more learned
    responses to be 100% sure.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Its pretty beat up on the inside but the outside holds up nicely, some visible mothing that I can see. I think 250 is reasonable for its condition, mint and very good condition ones are starting to run into the 6-700s these days.

I agree--the hat has had a lot of work done, and very poorly (all postwar as well). I would pass on it--the repairs are just too crude.

I'd normally suggest looking beneath the leather sweatband, as many times these hats had dates and unit markings on them there, but, given the poor condition of the sweatband, I don't think that I would dare touch it...
