Default Opinions on Black Police Shako

    Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased this Shako in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, France and I feel that I may have not done enough research before purchasing! I later learned that most of these "Wiemar re-issues" could have actually been post war caps. I would like a second opinion on this piece as to its authenticity. I have attached some pics, but if you need more just ask. Any help would be much appreciated!

Looks like a newer replica to me. The early all black schako's were all black and came before the felts, but this one looks extraordinarily new. Here are a couple of internet photos of one to compare it to.

I would agree with William on this one, the material that these were made out of was very supseptable to temperature crazing which can be seen in williams example. For it to be that mint with not even one discrepancy is Almost impossible. Also the internal construction looks incorrect.

So do you think it's post-war or a full on replica?
