Opinions on Panzer Oficers M38 Feldmütze

Hi all.

This cap crossed my path today and I'm trying to determine whether or not it's a good one, and if so what specifically it is. I'm not used to seeing a green-backed Heer insignia on tan. Throw in the Panzer soutache and the silver piping and I'm stumped. Any thoughts?

the silver piping is for an officer as is the flat wire eagle and the bullion cockade. I could not say from these pics if it is a good original or not.

That's what I was thinking. The coloring of this is completely off altogether in my opinion. But then again, I've almost passed on items before that I thought were wrong and turned out to be a strange variant.

Many years ago , I returned a Splinter pattern M-43 style Panzer cap , because the eagle and roundel were green backed , with pink soutache . And being field made it was hard to prove if it was original . I imagine this is a big ticket item , and would want it to be as text book as possible . Or have one of the forums Hat specialists give it the OK , even hands on inspection if possible .

No, not on the Feldgrau cap.

Another point to bear in mind not everyone who wore Pink Waffenfarbe was tank crew. Think Panzerjager etc.

Black backed eagle only when found on the black Panzer Feldmütze.

Good reference books are vital for this hobby.

I think the cap stands a good chance.
