    Default Original m43 Einheitsfeldmutze?

Hi there, I just wanted a second opinion on this M43 field cap please.
I think It's an original late war manufactured item by the looks of it so that's why it hasn't got any ventilation eyelets. Also the buttons are painted the same dark grey as late war belt buckles. Late war M43's often didn't have any markings whatever if I'm correct? Thanks for looking Jay.

Hello, looks good to me. M43 caps issued to enlisted troops were not ventilated and should not have any air vent grommets according to my reference books. I'm sure you'll get more opinions from the experts. Good luck

Hi Ade, any particular reason you'd pass? I've looked thru a few reference books and it looks identical to the ones in there. Jay

Hi Jay, these caps are a real minefield.

Not keen on the overall shape and the construction.

Detail is really the key on these and multiple good clear close up picss are needed.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hello,
Always tough to judge such a cap from such pics...
It certainly lacks a certain amount of well known details of construction and sewings....
When the Einheitsfeldmütze was adopted, many soldiers who had a M42 Feldmütze added a bill to the hat to "copy" the new hat. As M42s initially had grommets, some period pics did naturally show "M43s" with grommets....
This said, some authors believe that M43s of the very first productions did have grommets.
    Thanks

I asked for closer pic's and the reply i got was that they'd probably be the same as the one's i've already got so it'd be pointless!!

Hi Jay, then you need to walk away. A good seller will always try and furnish decent pics.

    Cheers, Ade.
