    Hi

Can anyone help me put a time on the manufacture of this cap and its branch of service please ?

I bought it with TR second pattern police insignia on and it was sold as a fire police officers cap....I was very young in those days and it's how we learn !!!

As my collection grew I became more interested in finding this caps true origin but to date have not had a positive id.

The cap crown is made of a black cotton material and it has a black velvet cap band. It sometimes looks brown in places in sunlight but is definitely black.

The piping is best described as wine red.

The cap has no internal lining but it has a top covering made of a ALKOR type material . The sweatband is made of the same materia and has PEKURO across the front in a pattern.

Celluloid is very thick old style....and has some great markings.

My best guess to date is a 1940/1950's post war miners cap.

    Any suggestions very welcome.

    regards

Is Pekuro spelled out on the front of the sweat band? If so, the cap is post war. Fire Police is not a rare hat, war time or not, though marker marked is always nice.

    Hi

    Thanks for your input guys.

The answer to your question Erich is yes it is spelled out on the front of the sweatband. Do you know the branch of service it was made for? The piping is not the carmine colour found on the pre and post war fire caps. It is a wine red colour.

    cheers

    Gentlemen

Thank you for the confirmation and input.

I shall badge it appropriately and put it in on display next to my ww2 one.

    cheers
