100% original Alkero (Albert Kempf--they are the only TR hatmaker still in business today.)

I agree. For some reason that has never been explained as far as I know, lots of Polizei schirmmutzen had these vent grommets installed which is quite unique. Maybe the Police needed the fresh air to their brains more than most!?

Not strictly true there Ben, as a former copper i can say with a certain degree of authority that like the traffic officers nowadays these vents are a medical nessessity, its the only way that , after having a total lobotomy, the remaining grey matter can drain away in a uniform and regulatory manner

Having been the victim of a few "none venting" coppers in my time, I can definitely say that holes in their caps and in other places would have been a good thing!

Can anyone tell me if the 'Deutsches Leder' sweatband is unique to Kempf,
or were they supplied to many makers of caps..................?
    Regards,

    Steve.

Many different cap makers used sweatbands with this stamp. All it shows is that the leather is German, and not imported.
What looks to be a cog-wheel is actually a rendering of a cowhide before cutting it up.

    Thanks, I wasn't sure.

I have a cap with only this sweatband mark.
    Regards,
