Railway Peak Cap?

Article about: G'day All, This one landed into my lap today, I know next to nothing on these! but I had to take the cockade off (is this genuine?) to complete this one, can anyone guide me in the right dir

    Really like the crown eyelets on some of the early caps....the Kupper product is especially nice too. These are pretty caps and deserve more attention than they usually get.

    Pretty sure the eagle insignia is genuine (correct me) I see no reference to RZM M1/53! in my ref or online! one hole there?

    Insignia stamped with "RZM M 1/53" were manufactured by Gebrüder Wegerhoff from Lüdenscheid , Germany.
    Great to see the visor complete with insignia
