How right you are. A well executed fake.

Sutka, I apologize--I should have blown up the photos before jumping in. I agree with d'alquen--it is bad.

You can see the black textile and piping are in error, as is the RZM tag. If the chin strap and peak are new, they are expertly aged.
Or they are taken from an authentic cap. In any case, the cap is not authentic. This is what I collect, as does Mr. d'Alquen. I could mention other
    things here, but I won't.
The later model enlisted black cap is the target of extensive fakery benefited by many extant examples and many, many digital images provided by us here.
I can tell you easily where to buy authentic examples, which are reasonably plentiful.

Look at the piping here....and the black trikotage.Click image for larger version.

In many cases....and what is many, really, the later model of this cap has a vulcan fiber chinstrap or an ersatz chin strap, versus the leather and or patent leather
of earlier models, i.e. prior to 1938 or so. Wim has taught us the models of this particular cap.

On the mad house site are endless threads as regards "fuzzy" piping, but in the case of the questionable cap you can well see how the white piping textile diverges from
the original. One can surely find original examples that are quite fuzzy, but not this fuzzy.

and so forth. Why I am enjoined to delineate all the ways to make fakes better is hardly in the public interest?

I do not collect a wide range of things, but this item is one on which certain of us have concentrated.

A large number of these were found in Czech film stores (I own one) and these 1990s treasures were the basis for much reverse engineering.
    damit, basta.
