Insignia is authentic, no problem there.
The cap itself is made correctly, the right style also and from period materials. The only thing that bothers me is the condtition, it's perfect! maybe too perfect. Hard to judge from photos alone.
BenVK,
Thank you for your input on this cap..
It does look good indeed..
Is there some chance that this cap was
never worn?? Maybe sent to mom/dad from son
somewhere in Germany to be displayed
and remembered of son on front lines??
That was my first impression also, Ben. Total mint and 70 years old? Maybe unissued and warehoused? In any case, I rather like it. Is the asking price decent?

Just under 3k US he is firm on price for condition...
Condition is the best I have ever seen for a cap like this. It was never worn, that's for sure.
If the seller has a robust return policy and the price is ok for you, I say go for it.
Personally, mint fieldcaps don't do it for me but most collectors place a premium on condition.
Each to their own.
A very nice original cap and insignia that has evidently either been stored well or in a collection for a long time. This was not laying around where the bugs or mice could fesat on it. Pristeen condition always requires a close look but at the same time is not a definite sign of fraud.

Thank you all for your expertise opinions..
