German WW2 headgear authentication
SS Panzer Feldmutze - genuine or fake? Hi. New member from Australia looking to increase my german WWII collection. I have been offered what is said to be a genuine SS Panzer side cap and would really appreciate your expertise and opinions.
The cap passes black light testing and insignia appears not to have been added at a later date. I am not sure about the soutache though although it is stiched through the cap at bothe ends.
What do the experts say?
Re: SS Panzer side cap - genuine or fake? Looks like a converted Luftwaffe cap. soutache is completely wrong IMO Insignia is fake (the eagle looks like a penguin)

Re: SS Panzer side cap - genuine or fake? Bad eagle head and soutache. Not one I would trust either. In fact the whole insignia is all wrong. Does not look like any original insignia I have seen. Maybe someone could correct me? Still, unless this is dirt cheap like say a few dollars at repro price, walk away.
