Looking for original SS items on eBay will not end well...
Yes, it's the last place you should look for such things. SS items are widely faked due to their value and high demand, and the likes of eBay are awash with such fakes. It's fine for buying lower value items, but if you want SS you're better off going through a well-known and reputable dealer. You'll pay the going rate, but for things like this you really need to.
B.B.
All of which is doubly true for branch color-piped Waffen-SS visors, which are very rare, highly expensive and heavily faked.
I'm not looking for SS item's on eBay as I usually deal with the Collector's Guild because of the guarantee and return policy.
, I 'm asking whether anybody has an opinion on this cap just out of curiosity and maybe to learn a thing or two..........
If you want to examine authentic grey SS caps, we have hundreds of images.
The Waffenfarbe SS cap is a bottomless pit, and what is kept there is also included in your image, that is, thousands of fake caps.
This item is above average, but it is also, in my view, a fake.
The first Waffenfarbe SS cap I saw was a signals cap, actually, but that was in 1973.
Mr Mint has his cap freak show, of fake caps, and also examples of authentic Waffen SS caps.
I have also some grey caps, but all those with Waffenfarbe, and I had two, I sold in disgust because
of the razz ma tazz with these things. One of my former caps, a Jaeger cap, is in a book even.....
Here is the famous Boehmer cap ex the Mollo collection, made by the Fa. Mueller in Muenchen.

This is a very old digital picture, so that's all I've got, but it is an authentic cap ex the Mollo collection.
The piping is for armor, and it is quite faded, like my brain.
This is an authentic grey SS cap with conventional piping, since the Waffenfarbe was or was not prohibited by nutty Heini soon after her permitted it,
since he did or did not think it debased his wonderful SS Maenner.

I bought this cap twenty years ago in Vienna for USD 1200 and it became a neo Nazi fetish object once I sold it.
Some Austrian SS man had a very oval Schaedel, and the cap did have the look of caps one sees in photographs, plus I am sure
one could have found out who he was from all the old, corroded DNA on the thing.
