Nope...the absurd obviously done on purpose skull outline is a give away...

I didn't say it was The proof...just that it's a usual give away...We don't need to constantly tell the fake makers what they need to do differently to pass off and sell their trash.

The correct answer to this question could be misleading, as it is: yes, it does LOOK LIKE an original cap - but that is already it. What makes me think are the imprints of the cap cords which were twisted z-wise (see the thread on reverse-twisted cap cords) and the sweat-shield which seems to be plastic, something that would have to be checked with the piece in hand. I'm eager to read the opinion of the specialists.

The original ebay.de text (see here: 2.WK Elite Schirmm):
100% Original vor 1945. Mottenspuren siehe Bilder.

At the same time, the chopped up legion fakes are everywhere, and do often have the imprint of a Totenschaedel etc.
The Lindensamt here also looks right, in fact, the whole thing has the age and posture of something lost in an attic for
more than half a century.
I am happy to be proven wrong, but I own more than one of these things, and the trikotage is very distinct.
The plessier of the lining is also that of a professional.
In 1970, I bought one of these, the first grey SS officer's cap I ever owned, and it had a brown cotton lining in the brown shirt shade. It was a very nice cap.
It cost USD 80, which was a ton of dough.
