Pics are too small to make an opinion. My impression is though that this is a reproduction that's been trashed and aged as a clever attempt to fool.
If it looks too good to be true..............it usually is.
sorry, I'm with Ben on the repro trashed to look better.......why has the insignia survived so well ?

I'm not totaly sure though, the insignia may be real. Piping has convincing fading..

Agreed, original insignia but I can't tell if they're machine stitched to the cap or whether they were once from something else like a fez. Do you have anymore photos? some of the interior would help a lot.
