This one is coming up in auction in Bath, UK in a few days. The exterior pic looked ok apart from the insignia and wrong chinstrap. The interior photo (which I had to request) killed any chance for this one.

I politely told the auction house that it was not authentic and to my great surprise! ....got absolutely no response!

It is far much easier to ignore a voice of reason than to acknowledge and deal with the inconvenience of a fake cap all ready to sell, it seems.

Surprise. Better to ignore unpleasent facts and run with the money.

You will find many examples of early, that is, pre 1936 or so, black SS caps on this site. I have gone to great expense to secure same and share them with an eager readership.
These caps are widely faked in a variety of configurations, but an authentic piece is unmistakable in its character.
