hi
I use a similar technique but use plastic insulator lagging for pipes instead of a sponge.
If you then wrap the support in 100% cotton ie old pillow cases etc then no need to worry about the chemical problems.

here's one I made earlier........in true blue peter fashion.............(one of 76 in fact....my, how those long winter nights in the garage just fly by)
Here is an example of the Tony vickers schirmmütze supporting. no stress on the visor, presentation technique in action...........just beautiful
cheers

You could try Skipper Greenwade here: Headgear Displays.
Best Regards,
Adrian.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I second that!! Skipper Greenwade makes some quality displays which are quite reasonable in price! below is a photo from his site,,with a combination Head gear / Luftwaffe dagger display.
It is not the size of a Collection in History that matters......Its the size of your Passion for it!!
thanks all. Great advice

Us and them - and after all we’re only ordinary men. Me, and you - God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do. Forward he cried from the rear, and the front rank died, and the general sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side.
