It's all good Tom and I'm glad I was not the only one to think so I was thinking it might be my comp or my tired old eyes

That's a very good deal, looks infantry to me though.

    LOOKING FOR:
    WWII-era British Battle Dress Jacket
Functioning No. 4 Mk I or Mk I* Enfield Rifle
    Japanese Type 90 Helmet
Functioning M1 Carbine or M1 Garand
    Soviet WWII-era M35 or M43 Gymnasterka
    WWII-era Soviet Flag

Looks Infantry to me. I would buy. It can be turned round to look really good in no time. If you buy I am sure we can share some tips to help refurbish the cap to near parade standard. I have restored a lot worse than that and at that price you can't go wrong ! Whats the inside like ?

    cheers

Unfortunately someone beat me to this, but the seller seems to have WW2 stuff for sale on a regular basis and will give me advanced notice of sale items in future. I can only hope the purchaser doesn't send the money as promised. Thanks for all the advice on this.
    Cheers,
    Al

I would advise that should you get the opportunity again and something very similar crops up, state your interest straight away on receipt of confirmation on authenticity, im sure the guy will wait for a couple of hours until you gain comments, especially if you say your asking for advise to restore and asking for estimates
