    Interesting beret, the insignia is for the 61 Bataillon de transmissions aeroportée (in English something like 61st Airborne Signals Battalion). The beret looks to be of a typical French construction (multi-part) and I believe blue berets were worn by Metropolitan Chasseurs Parachutist from 1954 to 1957 (during the Algerian war). Hope that points you in the right direction.
