    Oh well It wasn't very expensive and it does have a nice original Stokes rising sun on it so all is not lost... Have you pulled the puggaree off to see if there is a date there? It needs to come off and be put on the right way anyway, as the joins are on the sides and they should be at the front and back.
    I should have a spare eye here somewhere so you can repair it and hook the side up again.

    The liner is a little hard in places even though I've been rubbing in Renaissance wax so I'm not to willing to pull it back to far as yet.

    I'm not sure on the wax you are using, just beware wax could dry it out further over time

    The label OK's it for leather and the likes. I use it on my leather helmet liners and they are nice and supple. But saying that none of them have been hard at any stage.
