Can anybody tell me if this is a authentic WW2 Canadian cap? I mainly collect german militaria so I don't know much about it. Thanks!

Hi Mike, there are a couple of issues with this cap.

First the cap badge is not one that I recognise. Not Canadian to the best of my knowledge? Second is the chinstrap: this should be brown leather.

The cap itself is possibly 1940's.

I am thinking it might possibly have been worn by an Allied Officer, but of unknown nationality to me, hence the cap badge and chincords.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Ditto Ade, Not Canadian.

Is it possibly a Belgian lion on the badge?
    That was my first impression..........

I forgot to ask about the side buttons. They are usually marked with a crest
of some sort, which will tell us what country it is from. I can't make them
out from the enlarged photo due to shadows. If they are Canadian
buttons, the cap has been altered..........

The retailer of these caps would no doubt have supplied uniform
accessories for all the allied nations present in the UK.

    Regards, Steve.

Niether the cap nor the Badge are Canadian...wrong type of chinstrap on the Cap and the badge looks Belgian or Dutch to me.

    have a deco at this:

The Provost and Traffic Control Companies 1945-1946

So it's definately a Belgian Colonial Forces Cap (that's good 'clonial' staining on the braid!)
date: 1901 -1962(beginning and end of Belgian colonies).

    Unusal item, thanks!
    Jim.
