Thanks Rene. I was hoping to find a name behind the sweat band but no such luck. I image that the cap had a sweat shield but no evidence that I can see. It is neat that it is early and well-used. I'm going to try to clean the leather a little to help preserve it but otherwise leave the hat as is.

This is a wonderful looking hat.. I can't comment on the era or make but it is a nice worn piece and I can imagine it being worn on a bridge of a ship with the salt sea mist lightly spraying the owner and his hat..
