Flight helmet or prop?

Hey Guys,

I bought this at an estate sale and have no idea what I am looking at. It looks old inside and out, just don't know how old or if it's just a prop. On the inside under the liner are the bold letters MT, but they are faded. There is something next to that in white print, but I can't make it out. Other than that I can't find any other markings.

Any clue is appreciated.

Looks like a mixture of items, more pics would help. The goggles look like they are US but the flight helmet almost looks east german
