French army coat 1956

Hi Guys - I don't know too much about uniforms - especially French ones - I saw this coat for around 15 EU (here in Hungary), looks nice with stampings (1956 date, etc.) Made of heavy wool(?) and size 2 (if I'm looking at the right marking). They are in new condition...
I was wondering; is this really an army item, and would be ok if I pair it with a French M51 helmet (inner metal helmet is 1952 dated - plastic part is 3rd type post 1958)?

I think it will be better with an oversea cap than a helmet
