    Default French Kepi

The seller informed me this was a pre 1945 issue French kepi issued to commanders/officers of the French foreign legion, I highly doubt this is true but seeing as price was very cheap I brought it regardless.
Does anyone know a specific date for this kepi? also was this really issued to officers ? and does it belong to the French foreign legion?

Kepi is for a senior nco in a light cavalry regiment, or an nco school. Foreign legion officer kepis are all officially dark blue, actually black, with a scarlet crown & gold embroidery, except the cavalry regiment, which has silver. The grenade badge will be voided, and the side buttons will read Legion Etrangere.
