could be the seller tried to press the price using a friends account.
Ebay seems to have quite a few shill bidders these days .
Gotta have it mentality without the research of what they are worth. The seller has every right to put any price tag on an item..and its up to the buyer to know the difference to which the seller is betting against.

It can also be someone has a grandfather who used such a beret. One in the family has been looking for "Exactly" this type of beret.

Apart from it being a large size, is it blue in colour not black and therefore Royal Navy or Royal Marines? The latter might explain it going a bit higher than might be expected.
