I thought Merchant Marines as well Jerry, but I cannot for the life of me find a cap like this in both color and insignia.

Thanks for the post Gunny. I found an ad that provides further clarity on how long the company has been around. In this ad you can see the same addresses as what is printed on the cap, but from a 1913 (may be 1918) printed publication. It also states in the ad they've been "Taylors to Army and Navy Officers for Over Sixty Years". Between your find and mine it definitely appears they date to the 1850s.
