POW Cap

Wasn't sure which forum to post this in. Allied or German. Decided on Allied.

It is a US made POW cap for Axis prisoners.

Anyone ever see one before? Not sure but I've never seen one before.

It's made of denim and sized 6 3/4. Has an ID number on the back.

correct. The story on these is that they took the Daisy Mae's and modified them for POW's that didn't have their own hats. Apparently, these were never issued and stored in Belgium for many years before someone bought them in bulk.

Or so the story goes.......But the cost was negligble so I picked it up just in case it was true.

Was just wondering if anyone else had seen these...

I've seen some similar ones, but first time with PW markings.

I've also encounter brown versions of the denim hat and the jacket.

A first for everything. As I noted, the story is that there were boxes of these so who knows......maybe more will turn up.
