I'm really not an expert on these even though I have a few of them! I'd need to see detail on the snap button, does it have Carr Aust on them? my WW2 have subdued rising suns (can I see if there is a maker on rear of the RS) & maker codes eg. N121. The pug is not one I have. at a guess from me 50's (if the RS is original to this one) > early 60's?
Hi Rene yes it does . nothing on the badge. I read that this style was used up till 1949 . then they changed the wording .
You may well have a 45 example? going by memory press studs are from 45 on? hey I stand to be corrected and hope I will be. Also may have been for an officer?
Thanks Rene it was $10 had to buy it . How's the weather down there snowing here. Gary
I would take your autumn over my winter any day
This is the closest I have, missing the sweat band but is stamped D/|\D
Very nice
green grommets are usually post war. for a tenner, who cares what date it is....but I would say early post war before they changed over to the hook system.

Jerry
