US naval cap for review.

Hi everyone this is a recent acquisition, I know these are hard to date so wondering if i missed anything that would discount it as a possible ww2 issue.
All i really know is that in 1941 the eagle was changed from left facing to right, making this post 41.
any pointers greatly appreciated.

Hi Ed. I too think it's later than WWII - I've also noticed
some anchors have a different design, although there
are many manufacturers. If you take the badge off,
you will probably see a maker mark - another
clue to what era it's from.........

Blue covers were worn until 1949 or 50 I really don't remember.
Many different manufacturers made birds and anchors.
As far as I know there is no definite way to tell a cap made in 41 from a cap made in 49.

many thanks gentlemen, i will take the badge off and have a look for a makers mark and let you know.
This came into me with the jacket which is named and dated 1943, so this cap is probably ok. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any vital clue that made the cap a post war addition/replacement.

well, i have taken the badge off, and the back of the anchors are marked with "viking" on one and what looks like "1/20 10k GF" on the other, it is very faint, and i can only just make it out with a loupe.
I can see no marks on the bird or shield.

does this help????

Lol - I believe I have a 'Viking' one as well, and cannot
figure out when it was made either - although I'm
leaning to more recently. I was hoping yours
would be something less common.

is there anyway of researching the previous owners service dates without using ancestry?
its named to Lieutenant Commander FH Brennan
and the jacket is dated 12/16/43
