US OR Peaked Cap early

Article about: There is a picture somewhere out there of Staff Sergeant Alvin Carey who was a medal of honor winner the picture was taken of him in an early war uniform with service cap like the one above

    G'day All

    Thought I'd post this one for show and tell.
    I traded this for a later Eagle mfg OR cap, was I silly on the trade?

    Whoops I got the maker wrong it was made by Knox
    Here's shot of the cap I traded
    I will eventually get it back along with a officers one of the same maker but most likely at a cost

    The first one is 1950's issue.

    Like the USMC cap I previously post I still believe that these are pre war - the construction of these is definitely not '50s
    I need a little solid evidence on this

    Hi Rene, I actually used to own one just the same back in the 1980's. It had the paper label in it

    i saw a early war pic of an us cavarly unit before the us went into war, the pic i do remember was taken 1939. the men were still wearing breeches and uniform belts and black ties. to match black ties the leather of the uniform was also black.
