What era is this cap?
Article about: Ive been helping my father clean his house out and i came across this cap in a box of my grandfathers items, but I'm not sure if this cap is ww2 or otherwise. Some images ive seen on google

Lol ! I tried that somewhere and it also didn't work.
I'm not sure when the 'DLA' codes were established.
These caps are currently in use in the US Navy.
Still, cool cap just the same..........!

Issue caps always have the individuals serial number stenciled on the inside of the cap. That is done in boot camp. As well as the rest of your gear when you are issued upon arrival. Your dress blues are issued at about 6 weeks. Some mark them, some don't.
The cap shown was probably a commisary purchase.

i knew it wasnt my grandfathers, he was US army not US navy, i was just curious if it was ww2 or newer, thanks Steve!

If the DLA codes are anything like the old DSA codes the 87 in the code would be the year ie. 1987
