USN Officer caps, in nice clean condition.

You could remove the insignia and find the makers of the badges
    - This may help in determining their age, however they may
    be generic and unmarked.
Some insignia makers are still in business since WWII and the
Korean Wars though, Vanguard, Gemsco and N.S. Meyer are
    the most common.

It's probable that they are from the late 50's or more likely
sometime in the 60's or perhaps even later......

I think it was a great price, as the metal insignia alone is sometimes $20 to $30 or more ! !
Usually, the two-piece badges are made from sterling silver with 1/20th 10k gold plating on the anchors.

That was a good buy !

"Whatever anyone is willing to pay......" so as a collector, you want to pay
as little as possible and get a "good deal".

I check on-line auction sites often and record the selling prices of items
I already own, to see what the approximate going rate is, or what
the auction market will bear at that moment.
