WW2 US enlisted mans visor cap: real or fake?

Article about: by nkumburis If you look at the 4th picture on the back of the eagle theres a screw attached to it a little odd? Almost all US cap insignia have scew-back posts. Not 'odd' - perfectly normal

A real one, most likely a private purchase based on the quality. I believe the extra chinstrap on the rear of the cap is not regulation. Price paid ?

Typical EM screw-back badge, and a nice cap for the price you paid !

    That was a good price.

The rear chinstrap was often known as a "Cavalry straps". These straps tend to be early war and can also be found on Officers caps of the period. They were an optional extra not found on issue caps.

Screw backed cap insignia is conventional. The backing plate screws to it to secure the badge to the cap.
