Hi Nuno, that is well spotted, the example at 40 - 42 seconds looks like a 2nd pattern. I posted some stills on another forum showing at least one other in Afrika, but I can't find them at the moment.

You also see Rommel wearing a Green canvas first pattern similar to this example from my collection.

    Nice helmet, JB!
I prefere those; but meanwhile, I 'll have to stick to the second patern.
Here it is, chinstrap is there but broken, otherwise I do like the patine very much on both shields.
Thise one seems to have been used , but backwards....?? ... chinstrap marks on the back flap and the sweatband also seems to bear marks on the wrong side....

Very nice Kris, in much better condition than my 2nd pattern. The chinstrap marks on the rear brim are probably just where he preferred to store it when not in use.

Indeed, 1st patterns are a lot nicer than 2nd ones. They are more detailed. Kris, your example is very nice. Cheers. Nuno

I found the picture I was talking about, it is for sale as a postcard on Ebay, though where I saw it, it appeared to be from a private photo collection, so either I got that wrong or it has been copied and faked?

    Hi Nuno,

Not as such, but this montage with them all pictured with the same backdrop is the closest thing I have. Of course, I assume you meant only the German used examples in my collection.

Another view of it, which shows a truer colour than some of the others, better lighting on this day if I remember correctly.
