Kenneth, there is no doubt yours would be a private purchase visor. The contract caps have the chintz lining and usually have the contract year (lieferjahr) stamped inside them. They also (usually) have the stamp of the unit that issued the visor under the sweatband.

Some contract caps do have the rayon band, but more have the wool band.

A lot of contract visors do have the leather over the vulkanfiber. However, you will also see ersatz materials as well.
Thank you for your reply, Chris! Based on the photos above would you agree with me that my cap also has a band made of Rayon? In hand it looks nothing like wool in my opinion, more like very fine strands of Rayon with a good deal of shine to them.

    Hochachtungsvoll,

ID:	446191Great thread, as usual. This is my only Luftwaffe enlisted cap, piped for flight or paras, but stamped inside the sweatband to an airbase. It is made of a semi-rough wool blend, but not the more typical ribbed twill.
It also has the early eagle, and a leather peak.

Nice large size on that cap bob, do you know what airbase? I have an almost identical one stamped to Gardelegen which is now a national memorial, it was very interesting research.
