I f you look at that photo again it is not the same cord
It's not the same cap either. Point of showing the picture was single cord.

    P.S. Happy new year!

I won't rule out the possibility that it is a Croatian officers hat. The hat is a legit wartime Erel white-top. What signs of prior insignia are on the pasteboard?

It is also possible that the Germans exported said caps, or the man trained with the Luftwaffe in the Reich and got said hat.

The Uniformen Markt makes much of the export imperative for the uniform industry, and the editors paid special attention to the Axis allies, of whom Croatia was a leading example.

It would be a monstrosity to destroy a real Croatian second world war item in order to conform to collector dogmas.

    Sorry, but what's the "pasteboard"?

The pasteboard is the card former which forms the body of the cap.

If you look behind the sweatband at the front, you will see this.

    Cheers, Ade.

hi and as ben pointed out it has had one cord cut off to make it the single cord but it had a double one aswell, maybe the one in your pic was damaged and then been cut of?

here behind the plessier of the Muetzenboden is found the paste board, i.e. the frame of the cap band. In this case it is likely of black fiber and slightly visible in this Wagner PL cap.

I'm sorry for the delay. Unfortunately I can't see any signs of insignia...
