I concur with the comments of FB and Stonemint. This cap is not an "Allgemeine" SS cap but a black SS cap as worn by all branches of the SS as the dress uniform.

Bob is right, of course, the black uniform was worn for a time, and the significant time, by all branches.

This is a cunning and insidious piece, with an above average effort at deception.

Again, I wish I could examine it, and then I would be utterly certain, but I am pretty certain.
