Default Artillery Officer Schirmmütze for review

Despite the purchase of Tony Vickers' excellent reference on the German army visor and perusal of many threads I must admit to being quite 'green' on the topic of visor authentication and valuation hence my approach to the forum here.

I have found online what I think it a reasonably nice Artillery officer visor that I am considering purchasing. Being of cloth manufacture I would have to conclude it is of late war manufacture and the lack of maker marks on the sweatband or diamond only add to my conclusion as well as lowering the value of the piece. On the positive side it does appear to be in remarkable condition as well as having bullion insignia (which I happen to prefer over metal).

So my question is thus: Is the visor of period manufacture and is it worth the 550 euro the dealer is asking?

Many thanks in advance for your opinions.

I'm no authority on these but my gut says its good. I too, love the bullion insignia. The brim appears t be in fine shape as well as the liner and sweatband. I would pay the asking price..if deemed real, that is. I hope it's good for your sake because it looks very nice! I like arty's because the red almost reminds me of panzer pink and the color just pops.

Sweet, Glenn! Those would indeed look splendid together! Now all you would need is a nice tunic! This hobby never ends and never gets boring.

I saw that one as well Glenn and have to admit to being tempted. Late war eReL I think it was described as?

Yes Adrian, described as a late war Erel yet my maker identification skills are zero so the dealer could call it a later war Dolce & Gabbana and I wouldn't know the difference!
