how caps look without original badges, a crucial aspect of collecting SS cap insignia.....an as found cap from Nuremberg, ca. 1954....as seen recently. The 1934 Hoheitszeichen is likely an after thought....

another cap badge in its original context.....
My Friend Friedrich,
The is no finer way to display original SS insignia, than on the original hat!

Dear Friend in Arizona, thank you for making my point. I was taking the indirect approach, as it were. I suppose the extra expense and bother involved in collecting insignia-on-real-caps act as a kill joy to many enthusiasts. Your collection of such badges, on and off of caps, is a beam of light to us all in the darkness. greetings, FB

yet another exemplar.... thanks to friend Hritz for his many fine contributions. Might I also say that the images in my possession cheat enthusiasts of RZM and VA SS contract markings. Though, I think the pieces at hand are Deschler badges.
a general arrangement of a Munich made cap with Munich made insignia....
another piece of later make and a cheaper quality cap.....
IMO the most prefer look of early cap with small early eagle is a early jaweless scull
