I think there possibility for the specialists like doctors and veterenar's to have the pipings in the blue and carmine colors

I think a white piped cap could not possibly display a mountain troops edelweiss insignia.

But as Dimas has correctly pointed out, supporting arms of service could display this insignia if attached to a Gebirgsjager division.

    Cheers, Ade.

When you check the link you will see a vetarinärien tunic with edelweiss
patch sewn on the sleve. On his visor there was also a edelweiss attached

I've had original Verwaltung and Artillery tunics with Edelweis insignia and probably, as noted, other branches as sub-units attached to a Mt Inf Div would be represented. But, white seems odd and unlikely.

Just been thinking of this question again and I wanted to check a theory, which I think I have now disproved.

Heer Flak wore white waffenfarbe piping, however, having looked at the divisional organisation for Gebirgsjager divisions, it would appear that they did not incorporate their own organic anti aircraft elements. So scratch that idea.

    Cheers, Ade.

Didn't the 91st infantry regiment in 1941 get transferred to a Gebirgsjager unit?
