So I finally got my little collection back from my mums loft and was dismayed to find a large bulk of it missing

I have found a couple of pieces I need help with, one of which I believe is a German field cap. Im not sure if this is WW2 but believe it is, could someone tell me the cap type and possibly the division that it was used in (two crossed swords on front).

There is no marking inside due to wear and tear of being worn.

    Thanks,

    Guy

    Hello Guy,
Sorry to say but your cap is not WWII, but postwar Bundeswehr...very characteristic cap.

Oh well, this means its post 1955! I like the cap though so will keep it

Im going through all the things I collected as a teenager, many things of WW2 many which are probably post WW2 but I thought were very old.

    Thanks for your help JPhilip!

As JP says, post war West German, the badge on the side is for Mountain troopers or Gebirgsjäger.

    Cheers, Ade.
