German forage cap

Forgive me if my title is misleading or if I have mis-placed this thread? - This is not my area of collecting, but I have acquired this cap and would like to know more about it - I have been told it is Luftwaffe? and that it is reproduction - but that was by someone who then tried to buy it off me! I am certainly willing to learn! Thanks in advance for your help and comments.

Thanks a lot guys - Its good to know my eye and instinct have not let me down - Though confess some of my other faculties are not quite as good as they used to be!
