Original yes, but not from the Third Reich era: The Kyffhäuser emblem with the "1786" and the Iron Cross is the post-war version. (The Kyffhäuserbund is still in existence today.)

For additional illustration, see here for an online shop offering Kyffhäuserbund caps and cap insignia...:

...and here for present-day Kyffhäuserbund members wearing similiar caps:

I am bringing this thread back to life again as I have a question for you Andreas. What did the cap emblems on the organisation's caps look like in the inter-war years before the Third Reich was established?

I have in the past been told that the kind of 25 years membership pin as shown in the middle below dated from the Weimarzeit or inter-war years. Or is it a post WWII design for sure?

    Hi

If i may add a bit more info....

the original insignia used on the inter war caps was an oval shaped badge of white enamel with the tower monument embossed on it. No date on the emblem.

This evolved in the early thirties to encorporate an army style wreath in gold stamped metal along with a round central badge with a black cross and tower.

the caps these insignia were placed on had a black mohair capband and were either the civil mutze or yacht club stle black caps.

In 1936 the swastika was added to a new cap insignia with the tower and swastika cap band.

I will post a photo of the insignia once I off shift tomorrow if that will help.

    cheers

The two stick pins with tower and national colours are IMO weimar era. The 25 years pins with date could be post war 1950's but I have no empherical evidence to back this up. Just the fact the 1796 date is on the pin and this was adopted from 1953 onwards on the new vets cap insignia.

    cheers
