Incorrect construction, bad insignia along with fantasy markings.

Hi guys,
I have one for ya. I got this cap with a lot of Genuine WWII German items but I am unsure about this one. It has been UV tested and shows no sign of modern materials being used in the construction of this cap. But the "1983" on the inside is throwing me off... could it be a lot number? Or is it a fake made with period materials? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think this is a fake also, Jamesww2. The markings and material are incorrect, IMO.
It appears to be made of wool from British battle dress.
BTW; Welcome to the Forum !

Let's hear some other opinions on it................

Quite possible. I have seen lots made that way as I am a re-enactor and this wool has been used for 30 odd years now.

As mentioned in another thread; Heer M43's are a minefield - move slowly and carefully before you buy! The paramilitary organizations; RAD, Org. Todt, etc. are not as bad for fakes/repros so a new collector might want to start in these areas.
